Founding Mothers by Cokie Roberts

Discussion date: July 10, 2006

What we thought:

The rating people gave this book depended a lot on how interested they were in the content. Those who were highly motivated gave it ratings of 4.5, but most people had a hard time sticking with it and rated it 2.5 or 3.5.

We agreed that Cokie Roberts had done an impressive amount of research and had come up with many interesting historical tidbits, but most of us found the writing disappointing and badly organized. We all learned a good bit about American women of the 18th century, but as one person said, “It was too much like homework!”
