Things people liked about this book:
- The imagination
and skill of the author in creating and peopling a world based
on a beautiful work of art.
- Learning so much about medieval
life and all that was involved with the weaving of the tapestry.
- Aliénor,
the amazingly creative and sympathetic blind girl -- most
people's favorite character.
What some people disliked:
- Sex scenes which seemed overly crude
to many.
- Not a "page-turner."
- Some unsympathetic characters,
despite the growth and change of the central narrator (Nicolas).
- Two-dimensionality of the characters, although some pointed
out that you could regard this as a technique that was symbolic
of the tapestry itself.
Our favorite tapestry: Sight, with A
Mon Seul Desir the runner-up.
Our ratings: Mostly 3.5s and 4s.
