The Memory Keeper's Daughter
by Kim Edwards

Discussion date: November 13, 2006

What we thought:

After about an hour of window talk :-) we eventually found time to turn our attention to the book. It was one of those interesting discussions where the topic gave us lots to talk about, although only a few of us were really enthusiastic about the book as a reading experience. Most people found David and Norah difficult to relate to, although we were especially fond of Caroline and Al. Many thought that the book as a whole did not hang together very well and perhaps would have benefited from better editing. Much of the discussion centered on issues related to Down syndrome in general. It was interesting to speculate on how David, Norah, and Paul’s lives might have played out if Phoebe had remained in their family.

Ratings ranged from a low of 3 to a high of 4.5, with most around 3.5 stars.
