What we thought:
No one could fail to be impressed and inspired by Paul Farmer’s
ongoing work in Haiti and among other desperately sick and poor
people. Those who criticized the book found it something less than
Tracy Kidder’s best work at drawing us into the experience,
making it all hang together, and conveying a deep understanding
of the mind of this amazing man. Some found it just a bit lacking
as a reading experience for that reason. There were quite a few
5-star ratings, several 4’s, and one 3. Bottom line score:
4.5 stars.
