What we liked most about this book were its insights on the life
and culture of the immigrant Indian family. Many of us commented
that we did not feel particularly drawn to the characters (with
the exception of the mother and father) and rated it lower for
that reason. The subject led us into a discussion of immigrants
in general, and we all were enthralled by Elizabeth's telling of
her family's experiences in coming to this country from Hungary.
Ratings ranged from 3 to 4.5, for an average just below 4 stars.
